Task 3 – What film genres do audiences prefer? H'wk

Based on Survey Monkey, as it had more participants.
1. Which 3 genres do audiences prefer? 

                  Most people (50% of survey takers) enjoyed fantasy, with 25% preferring other genres like, comedy or period, and 12.50% enjoying musicals, 12.50% enjoying animation, and 12.50% enjoying adventure films

2. What reasons did they give for their preference?
                    Fantasy: It takes me away from the reality that is as toxic as it is boring
It puts your mind into a place more interesting than the ordinary day to day life.
The imagination it brings
Comedy/Period: Usually uplifting
I like comedy/ drama i.e. Forest Gump
Animation: Light hearted family films are enjoyable, they relieve reality and stress of life that you'd also see in other darker films

3. Do similar audience groups like the same film genres? For example, do all 40 year old women prefer romantic comedies or all 16-21 year old males prefer Horror films?
                 No, as my results were extremely varied, I found that many genres can appeal to any sort of age, or gender. 

4. Which film genre do you think you would prefer to make and, based on this research, who would be your target audience?
            I think I would prefer to make thriller as it would be good to explore some themes to make people think, however based on my research, it should be a better idea to make a fantasy film to appeal to people, however this would be extremely difficult with limited resources, and therefore, thriller would be a better idea. Our target audience would have to be 16+ as thrillers can be psychological, and could confuse a younger audience.
